CHINCHILLA MEDICAL CENTRE

SINGLE-STOREY EXTENSION TO MEDICAL FACILITIES

The Chinchilla Medical Centre project involved a single-storey extension to an existing medical facility to incorporate new reception area, treatment, triage and doctors’ rooms. Demolition, rebuilding, footpath works and the addition of an external carpark were all to be undertaken while the facility remained fully operational.

Brandon & Associates was the lead consultant for the project, undertaking architectural design and documentation of phasing, site plans, floorplans and elevations, as well as town planning applications. The structural, hydraulic and civil design of the project was a key focus area, with coordination of the electrical and data design incorporated.

Ensuring a seamless visual and operational transition while the extension was being constructed, was critical to the project’s success. By phasing the design, the existing portion of the building and doctor’s surgery was able to remain operational.  Additionally, Brandon & Associates was able to minimise disruption to the doctor’s surgery by supporting the existing roof framing in position to accelerate construction. Open communication with relevant stakeholders was crucial to the project’s success, with public safety during construction held with the highest regard.
